About me
Gaba Wright is a composer, songwriter, lyricist, and music producer from Sydney, Australia.
Gaba specialises in composing music for film, television, games, advertisements, chamber works, and other visual media. Most recently, Gaba’s compositions have featured on television shows such as Bondi Rescue, Cult Justice (USA), The Rise & Fall of Kings Cross, Murder Down Under, and The Great Australian Bake Off. He has composed for numerous short films and documentaries, many of which have been released on platforms such as SBS on Demand and Docplay, as well as being distributed amongst the festival circuit.
Gaba has extensive experience composing for chamber ensembles. He recently won Cello Dreaming’s Call for Scores composition competition, with performance and recording opportunities scheduled for later in 2026. In December 2024, his composition As Time Goes By was debuted at the Sydney Opera House, performed by The Nexas Quartet and Australian Baritone Peter Coleman-Wright AO. Gaba has also received accolades for his large-scale choral/loopstation work INNERMIND (2021), his compositions Weekdays (2020), Nightbus to Nowhere (2021), and Decision Fatigue (2024).
Gaba has composed original music for advertisements and campaigns for NSW Health, Quitline, and the University of Sydney. He has orchestrated and arranged music for MADBS Composing Palace and Globe Managements & Promotions, for large-scale performances at Sydney’s State Theatre and local venues around New South Wales. Gaba has also composed and conducted music for International Grammar School’s original productions of Shakespeare’s The Tempest (2020) and Ned Manning’s Alice Dreaming (2023).
Gaba is also a confident songwriter and lyricist, having written and co-produced multiple albums, EPs, and singles for both himself and other artists. His own releases Afterhours (2020) and Maybe in the Darkness (2025) have been met with success, spawning interviews with Happy Mag, Girl At the Rock Show, and multiple radio appearances - as well as eliciting numerous live performances in and around Sydney, NSW.
Gaba is a pianist, vocalist, saxophonist, and occasional percussionist. He is confident working with VSTs and sample libraries as well as recording, conducting, and mixing live instruments. In 2026, Gaba graduated with a Master’s of Arts Screen at the Australian Film Television and Radio School.
